NEHTA Limited is a not-for-profit company established by the Australian, State and Territory governments to develop better ways of electronically collecting and securely exchanging health information.
In 2014 the government scrapped NEHTA. A government review in 2015/16 of both NEHTA and My Health Record system was transitioned to a new entity called the Australian Digital Health Agency (the Agency).
The Australian Digital Health Agency commenced in June 2016, who are responsible for national digital health services and systems. They report to State and Territory Health Ministers through the COAG Health Council.
Based in Sydney, the Agency also has offices in Brisbane and Canberra.
The My Health Record system is being used in over 700 public hospitals and health services across Australia.

- An understanding of their health status.
- Able to share their health information with all their healthcare providers.

The Agency has a Digital Health Cyber Security Centre who monitors and assesses any cyber threats and secure national digital health operations across Australia.
